Artist Statement
The contemporary aesthetics of fantasy-future are married with the timeless characteristics of the sea in my work, coupled together to present the postmodern genre “Magic Realism” and more specifically the subset genre “Vaporwave”.
My continuous body of work serves as a medium to self-examine and process difficult periods in my life, intending to become a better person by processing my emotions through various modes of religious art production. The broad themes and illustrated details in my paintings function as an illusive medium that allows me to share my life experiences and lessons with a supportive audience. (By the way, thank you all!)
I believe that to teach and nurture others, I must know myself. I must be whole before I can help others be whole as themselves. To ensure I take action for the right reasons, and more importantly, to take on the task without hesitation to teach others in the future.
Special thanks to Jay Spalding & Larry Vienneau Jr., for providing me with the resources and education to be my best self through studio arts, and being myself wholeheartedly in ways beyond art.
